Project Toy Adventure

Toybox Adventures:  places players in the shoes of a tiny toy inside a massive child’s bedroom, filled with nostalgic charm and interactive obstacles. You’re not just a toy you’re on a mission to power up and launch the rocket resting high atop the desk. But it won’t be easy.

From oversized building blocks and towering furniture to scattered tools and playful hazards, the world is a maze of creativity and challenge. The adventure unfolds across three major goals, all centered around collection, navigation, and clever interaction with the room-sized environment.

🛠️ Implemented Mechanics & Features

FeatureDescription
🔋 Battery Collection SystemPlayers must explore every nook and cranny to collect 7 batteries, hidden under beds, behind blocks, and above shelves. These power systems needed to progress.
🔧 Item-Based ProgressionCritical tools like the screwdriver unlock new gameplay areas—turning passive exploration into meaningful discovery.
📦 Push & Interaction SystemPush oversized blocks, books, and ramps to reach new areas and solve toy-themed traversal puzzles.
🪜 Layered Level DesignThe room expands vertically and horizontally—featuring floor-level crawl spaces, climbable toy shelves, and interactive jump-pads.
🎮 Miniature World MechanicsThe world is massive, but you’re tiny. Everyday items like pencils become bridges, and hot wheels launch you through the air.
🧰 End-Level Assembly ChallengeWith all three key items (7 Batteries, Screwdriver, Rocket Controller) collected, players reach the rocket station on the desk and initiate launch.
Charming VisualsBright colors, chunky textures, and oversized objects bring the world to life with a vibrant, animated aesthetic.

🎨 Design Highlights

  • Built in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprint logic
  • Three-part mission structure tied to progression-based exploration
  • No combat entirely focused on movement, creativity, and environmental interaction
  • UI elements track collectible progress and guide the player
  • Built as a vertical slice prototype to test layered exploration and toy-scale design
